With the "heroics" of Floyd Landis under a cloud of testerone and steroids dominating baseball headlines plus other sports like track and field, sport commentators wonder if there are any heroes left in sports. The St. Louis Cardinals leave Chicago winless! (Okay, the Cards far from suck, but I unable to locate a "Cardinals Suck in Chicago" picture). Another fine managing job by Tony LaRussa and his lackey, Dave Duncan!! With St. Louis out of town, the Cubs should return to their losing ways!

Finally!! While I grew up as primarily a fan of the White Sox, I watched alot of Cubs games. You couldn't help it, the games were WGN or more approriately, Channel 9 and of course all the home games were day games. When I got home form school the games had usually started but if I was lucky I would get the chance to see Dick Tidrow with his great moutache and high kick and then to close the game, Bruce Sutter! I am not sure I reall y understood what was so special about a split finger fastball except that most guys would strike out swinging at it! While he will wear a St. Louis cap in the Hall, he won his Cy Young with the Cubs. True Cubs fans should be proud as one of the all time great Cubs enters into the Hall of Fame today! Congrats to Sutter!

While the US has faltered awfully in recent international competition (World Cup, USA Basketball internationally), there is one sporting event where an American continues to dominate- the Tour de France! Several days ago, I commentted that it MIGHT be over for Landis after dropped back about 7 minutes behind the lead. Well, Landis took care of that deficit and has won the Tour. You can bet that many Europeans thought that the reign of America at the Tour was over with Lance Armstrong's retirement.

Okay, I doubt that I will be watching the Miss Universe pageant, but it looks like Miss Poland has a decent shot!!
