Big-ass Quarterbacks. Watched some of the US Army High School Football All-Star Game on Saturday and saw Michigan QB Recruit Ryan Mallet listed at 6'6" 230. JaMarcus Russell listed at 6'6" and 260 (c'mon, at least lie a little less and say 275) could be the #1 pick in the NFL draft. But they both would have some way to go before they match Giants' back-up QB Jared Lorenzen listed at 6'4" 285 and often played at 300 while at Kentucky. Maybe the Fridge should have played more at QB!

Post-BCS Championship comments: With my site down for a good part of yesterday, I was not able to comemtn on the game and the season in general (or post these "championship photos"). How could so many of us be so wrong about Ohio State? With both Ohio State and Michigan taking a beating, it is obvious that the Big Ten was overrated.... At the end of the season I would vote the top five as follows: 1. Florida, 2. LSU, 3. USC, 4. Ohio State and 5. Boise State....Urban Meyer-best young college football in the USA or maybe just the best college football coach? He has only been a Head Coach for 6 years (at 3 schools!!) and he has one undefeated 12-0 season, a national championship, a 4-0 record in Bowl games and an overall record of 61-12. This at the age of 42! Just imagine if he coaches as long as JoePa?! Now we will see what he does with his own recruits!... Illinois fans should take some solace in the Gators' victory as Urban Meyer did it largely with Ron Zook's recruits. Hey, we know that Zook can recruit, but can he coach? Based on what I have seen so far, I have my doubts....Troy Smith another victim on the Heisman jinx in bowl games? Draft stock had to go down... Chris Leak's draft stock?

BASEBALL HALL OF FAME VOTING: Paul Ladewski of The Daily Southtown explains why he submitted a blank HOF ballot. Do you accept his explanation? Personally, I think he should have his voting rights taken away!

HM, among others, complimented my playoff picks as "Red-Hot." Be forewarned that it will be all downhill from here!

Some predictions for tonight's title fight:
Ramblerboy- Ohio State by 10
Daddy3dog- Florida in a close one (by 2 or 3)
Whitey - Ohio State "Easy"
HM- Ohio State by 3 (27-24)
K- Ohio State by 9
The Perch- Ohio St. by 7
Coach- Ohio St. by 3
and finally, the night doorman in my office building, is adamant that Florida will win.
Any others?

Is anyone else wondering how Tony Parker strained his hip?

Okay the Colts won the game, but c'mon, when Manning tossed his third interception you were thinking: "
Same ol' Manning, can't win the big game!"

GREG PAULUS- ZERO! That's zero points and only one assist in Duke's 69-67 loss to Va Tech. Oh yeah, the former McDonald's All-American did have 6 turnovers. Maybe Paulus should have chosen to play quarterback in college. If he "transfers" to the DUKE football team next year, he could be a savior for both the football team and the basketball team!

Dallas to upset the Seahawks.

It's late, so this will be quick- Pats over the Jets.

Playoff Preview #2- N.Y. Giants @ Eagles. The Eagles are 5-1 with Cleveland/Detroit cast-off Jeff Garcia at the helm. But Garcia's NFL playoff record (he won a Grey Cup in the CFL) is 1-4. Giants limp into the playoffs and are just too unpredictible. I think this game will be close and the Giants will make a late push, but the Eagles win 21-17.
NFL Playoff Preview #1: The first game of the weekend is Saturday @ 3:30 CST and it features the Kansas City Chiefs v. Indy Colts. Boy, talk about strength against weakness. The Colts run defense is AWFUL, AWFUL! I am pretty sure that my friend, HM could run for 100 yards agasint the Colts. Larry Johnson could potentially rush for 200+ agaisnt the Colts. But the Colts are not anything if not a excellent home team (last home loss, the Steelers in last year's playoffs) while the Chiefs were 3-5 away from home. If the Colts score early in this one especially if Manning can hit Harrison or Wayne for a couple of quick TDs, it won't matter how many yards Larry Johnson will run for. I go with the Colts, 27-14.

Stay tuned- Ramblerboy (the real "Ramblerboy") was in attendance for Loyola's victory over Cleveland State and has promised to provide us with some insight into last night victory.
