Better NBA Draft Class: 1984 or 2003?

The 1984 NBA Draft class is usually considered, one of, if not the best ever. Four Hall of Famers- Hakeem, Jordan, Barkley and Stockton.
But consider 2003 draft class with Lebron, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh, and Dwyane Wade is not too shabby. I'm not sure we will get four Hall of Famers out of this class, but a strong class non the less.

GO TO HELL CAROLINA, GO TO HELL!

I took a little break from blogging, and planned to do so for a while longer. But I couldn't let this go by.
Alright, the game was not exactly a match-up of titans and Duke played like crap- but any time DUKE beats Carolina, that is huge.
And a nomination for "jag-bag" of the week is the Tar Holes' Roy Williams, with this quote before the game.

"Our massage therapist told me, she said ‘You know, Coach, what happened in Haiti is a catastrophe. What you’re having is a disappointment.’ And I told her that depends on which chair she was sitting in, because it does feel like a catastrophe to me, and that’s because it is my life."
Nice, Roy, nice. Jag-bag!
GO TO HELL, CAROLINA, GO TO HELL!

In case you missed it...

Entertainment Weekly published its list of "TV's 50 Biggest Flops."
Here are some highlights (according to K):
1.Putting Jay Leno at 10:00pm
2,FOX taking "Family Guy" off the air- TWICE!
10. The XFL
14. The Brady Bunch's Cousin Oliver!
17. Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip (gee, another blunder by NBC!)
19. NBC cancels "Baywatch" and "Jag" (I don't even remember Baywatch being on NBC! I wonder if NBC's cancellation of "Southland" will some day be added to this list)
20. Coy and Vance replace Bo and Luke Duke ("Just a good ole boy...")
24. Pink Lady and Jeff (another brilliant NBC move)
41. CBS's remake of The Fugitive
42. Hello, Larry (yes, NBC!)
47. My Mother the Car

BULLS MAKE HISTORY (THIS TIME THE GOOD KIND!)

becoming the first NBA team ever to win five consecutive road games over teams with winning records.

Now I have no idea how often an NBA team has actually played five consecutive road games against teams with a winning record, but at least for the time being this has silenced the "Fire Vinny" chants among the locals.

With the Bulls on this five game winning streaks they are rising up the NBA Power Rankings as the Celtics continue to drop!

A Woman Wins A Bowling Championship

Apparently, it's a big deal.
Yawn!

Bulls Trade Aaron Gray for Devin Brown

Since I have seen Aaron Gray play about 2 minutes thus far this season, this cannot be a bad trade for the Bulls.

Finding Something to Be Happy About Every Day!

Denis Leary does a routine about whiny being constantly complaining about life with "I'm not happy!" His response is that no one is totally happy and you have to find small increments of happiness in your daily life (for Leary, apparently his increments of happiness are in smoking and making a ton of money from "Rescue Me.")

So today, I find happiness in Bret Favre being out of the playoffs and North Carolina being out of the AP poll for the first time since January 2006.

Thanks to Bob for the radio call! Visit Bob's Blitz for more great stuff (and possibly to find "small increments of happiness.")

VOLS COACHING SEARCH-UPDATE #2

CUT STAYS AT DUKE! Here's his statement:

After much thought and consideration, Karen and I reached the decision that Duke is the place for our family,” Cutcliffe said. “We have both family members and lifetime friends in the Knoxville community and share a deep respect for the University of Tennessee. Our ties to the school and the Eastern Tennessee area are obvious. But before Tennessee’s hiring process comes to a conclusion, I know that Duke University is where we want to coach.

“I’ve said all along that what makes Duke so special is the people, and that is the truth. We’ve received tremendous support from President Brodhead, Kevin White and the rest of the school’s administration and are very grateful for their efforts. We have the best coaching staff in the country, and are convinced that we will continue to build a successful football program that both the Duke and Durham communities will be proud of.”

“We are extremely excited about the future of this program. From the players we have returning, to our work on the recruiting front to our facility projects, we know we’re headed in the right direction.”

Vols Coaching Search-Update

It is is being reported that Duke's David Cutcliffe will be taking the Tennessee job. Really can't blame. But as a Dukie, it sucks that every time the football program shows some signs of life, the football coach leaves for greener pastures. First, Steve Spurrier and now Cutcliffe!

Vols Coaching Search

So who replaces Lame Kiffin at Tenn?
Possibilities:
1. Texas Def. Coordinator Will Muschamp, who is the successor in waiting for the Texas job when Mack Brown retires.
2. ESPN is reporting that former Tenn. coach Philip Fulmer has been contacted by the school.
3. Duke's David Cutcliffe, a former assistant at Tenn may be considered.

Relax Notre Dame fans!

Before you get too excited about Joe Montana's son, Nate, returning to the Dome, you might want to check out his junior college stats.
According to ESPN: At Pasadena City (Calif.) College, Montana played in five games for the Lancers (5-5), completing 31-of-88 passes (35 percent) with five interceptions and two touchdowns!!!
Unless his recievers just dropped 30 passes, that's just bad!!

Since I have nothing to say about Mark McGwire right now...

how about a Megan Fox picture?

Just thinking about....

1. DePaul fires basketball coach Jerry Wainwright. By all indications, Wainwright is a nice guy and he has had coaching success at previous stops; however, DePaul has been awful especially in Big East play (0-16 last year and 0-3 thus far this season). But why fire him now? Why not fire him after last season when the Blue Demons were 9-24? I have to agree with PG that DePaul's mistake was not in hiring Wainwright but in joining the Big East rather than the Atlantic 10 or even Conference USA! Yeah, the Big East wanted the Chicago media market, but DePaul hardly ever sell out it's far from campus arena even for games against Georgetown or UConn. I know that the '79 Final Four team and the dominant teams of the early '80s (at least regular season) are a distant memory (I still remember Al McGuire doing DePaul games on NBC ), but the administration must take the blame for the overall drop in this program.
2. Kurt Warner! If there is still anyone out there who still thinks that Warner is not a Hall of Famer, please explain yourself.
3. Bernie Kosar's bankruptcy case was just converted to a chapter 7 case. Gee. wondering how Lenny Dkystra's bankruptcy case is rolling?

I WONDER IF MATT DAMON IS WORRIED

Right now, Ravens lead the Pats 24-0 with time left in the 1st quarter!!!

Bye, Bye Bengals

Chad "Johnson" after the game: "I don't want to go home."
Maybe next time catch more than two passes. Oh yeah, you might want to hold on to a pass in the end zone.

TOTALLY USELESS PLAYOFF PICKS!

Saturday's Games!

1. NY Jets @ Cincy- No reason to pick against the Jets except to go against Bob!

Cincy 24-21.

2. Philly @ Dallas- Philly was my pre-season pick in the NFC. But, with a chance to grab the #2 seed and a bye week, Philly looked like crap against Dallas. But then again, Philly's recent playoffs record versus that of Dallas.

Dallas 28-24.

NO SURPRISE-ARENAS SUSPENDED

Gilbert, you are awaiting word on whether or not the NBA will suspend you, so what do you do before the game-pretend to shoot down your teammates with "finger-pistols"!! Gee, why not wear a throw-back "Bullets" jersey while you are at it!!

ANDRE DAWSON ELECTED TO BASEBALL HOF!

Good news for Hawk
(even as a Sox Fan, Hawk would make my list of my all time top ten favorite Cubbies).
Not such good news for Blyleven, who misses by five votes.

KUDOS TO THE BIG TEN!!

which finished the Bowl Season with a 4-3 record!
Now, before you respond that 4-3 is not that great, compare and contrast with the Big Ten's recent bowl game woes, this is a marked improvement.
Let's see if the Big Ten can continue this into next season, which as far as can recall (and please correct me if I am wrong) will be returning all its coaches from this season (but with Ron Zook and RichRod on very hot seats).

BEARS CLEAN (PART OF THE) HOUSE

leave the master bedroom a mess.

Most of the offense coaching staff is gone, but Lovie and Jerry get to stay.

Now we get to speculate on who will be the new OC.
Early names include Charlie Weiss and Mike Martz!!

RON TURNER- HE GONE!

Bears fire OC Ron Turner.
Cheaper than firing Lovie Smith.

ESPN To Launch 3-D Network!?

Would I have to wear 3-D glasses at home? Alright, I admit it, I already do.

Here's hoping that I can wake-up to "Mike and Mike" jumping out of my TV set!
