HEY BOSTON SPORTS FANS, THINGS WEREN'T ALWAYS GREAT!
From the book, "The Worst of Sports":

During the first three years of the '90s , the Patriots were by far the worst team in football, rolling up a 9-39 record in '90, '91, and '92.What's more the franchise had taken a PR bath in the wake of the Lisa Olsen incident, in which several Pats players allegedly waved their junk at, and made suggestive comments towards, a female Boston Globe reporter.

Dolphins welcome back Ricky.....For Better or worst!
File this one away under the category of "a no-brainer." When your goal is to win one game, one freakin' game, you got to take the chance that Ricky can still give you something this season.

FROM THE BIG TEN'S OFFICIAL WEEKLY PRESS RELEASE:

"Big Ten Tied for National Lead with a Conference-Record 10 Bowl-Eligible Teams:

With only one game remaining for each Big Ten team, an unprecedented 10 of the 11 conference programs currently stand above .500 and have already secured bowl-eligibility. The Big Ten's record number of bowl-eligible teams include Ohio State (10-1), Illinois (8-3), Michigan (8-3), Penn State (8-3), Wisconsin (8-3), Purdue (7-4), Indiana (6-5), Iowa (6-5), Michigan State (6-5) and Northwestern (6-5). The Hawkeyes, Spartans and Wildcats were the latest conference squads to qualify for postseason play after picking up their sixth wins last Saturday. The Big Ten has never qualified 10 different teams for postseason action and has never produced 10 teams with records of .500 or better. The conference has sent seven teams to bowl games in each of the last two years and set a Big Ten record with eight bowl teams during the 2003 campaign. The conference has also ended a season with nine teams at or above .500 on four occasions -- 1904, 1903, 1901 and 1900. The last season that eight Big Ten teams finished at .500 or better was in 1999, the first time that feat had been accomplished since the 1960 campaign. The Big Ten is one of only two conferences in the Football Bowl Subdivision to boast 10 or more bowl-eligible teams along with the SEC. "

What does bowl eligible mean? Six wins! Since colleges now play 12 regular season games (13 if you play in the conference championship game), so if you finish .500 you are bowl eligible!! Let's look at the bottom four teams that are bowl eligible in the Mediocre Ten.
1. Northwestern- Six wins, which includes a win over Division 1-AA Northeastern. Northeastern has 3 wins this season. Sad enough that you only need to be a .500 team, but you should be allowed to count Division 1-AA wins. Northwestern, which gave Duke its only victory in 2 seasons- you don't deserve a bowl game and absent a huge upset victory over the Illini, you ain't going anywhere.
2. Michigan State-At least the Spartans didn't play any Division 1-AA teams (I'm assuming that UAB is a Division 1-A team), but 5 losses in the Big Ten, including Iowa and Northwestern!
3.Iowa (6-5): Should beat Western Michigan to go 7-5. But, at one point Iowa was 0-4 in the Big Ten.
4. Indiana (6-5): I have no idea if Indiana has been in a Bowl game since Lee Corso left Bloomington. Still, this team lost to Northwestern and will probably be 6-6 after losing to Purdue.

THIS WENT STRAIGHT TO DVD!!!! I'M IN SHOCK!

ILLINI DEFEAT #1 OHIO STATE IN COLUMBUS!
I should have known. I was in Chaimpaign last year when the Illini gave the Buckeyes a hell of a game. Juice, loads of talent but inconsistent, has his best game as an Illini. Buckeyes- let the Illini keep the ball for the last 8 minutes of the game, followed by a lack of class after the game-Sad! Congrats to Ron Zook, Big Ten Coach of the Year! The upcoming Michigan- Ohio State game- who cares.

BELIEVE OR NOT-THERE ARE NOW 340 COLLEGES THAT PLAY NCAA DIVISION I MEN'S BASKETBALL!
Included in the 340 teams are: New Jersey Institute of Technology (do they go by "Jersey Tech?"); USC-Upstate (as in Southern Cal, I assume, but the best you could come up with is "Upstate"?) and Savannah State (named after a dead porn star?)! There was a time when I knew the nickname/mascot for each Division I team- not any more! I know Oregon's nickname- the Ducks!

WHY AM I POSTING THIS PICTURE? BECAUSE I CAN!
I have posted pictures of Leticia Cline- the blond- before (there's some great pics of her wearing Atlanta Falcons garb), but I know very little about her.
In any case, how could this picture not catch your interest. First, you go the whole "mix and match bikini top and bottom swap" going on. Then check out the orange (or maybe it's tangerine or something) bikini and tell me that there is anyway you can wear that in public! Who designed that? Barely enough material to cover up....

BULLS WIN!!! BULLS WIN!!!!
I was really starting to worry that it could be an "0-for" season.

ESPN is reporting that A-Rod wanted $350 Million from the Yankees.

FOR ONCE UIC BADGER YOU ARE CORRECT!
But the Buckeyes should take care of Badgers this weekend, fairly easily.

BONDS THREATHENS TO BOYCOTT BASEBALL HALL OF FAME.
Wouldn't it be great if the HOF called his bluff?!

JON KITNA APOLOGIZES FOR HALLOWEEN COSTUME-WHY?

At least for adults, when deciding on a Halloween costume, isn't the first rule to be imaginative. For dudes, if you can be imaginative and "in bad taste", bonus points. Women can always dress like, well, see the pictures above or yesterday's post! I considered going as Michael Vick this year (couldn't find a Falcons Vick jersey) and HM suggested Larry Craig as a possibility! Would Kitna have been in less trouble if he donned the Michael Vick costume. What if he dressed as Barry Bonds with a needle sticking out of his rump!? Kitna's "sin" dressing up like one of his assistant coaches who was arrested for driving through a Wendy's drive thru naked! Bad boy, Kitna!
