Cubs "Fire Sale" Begins- Well,Kind of!

Paul Maholm and Reed Johnson traded to Atlanta
Geo Soto (once predicted by Cubs' fans to be a repeat All-Star) goes to the Texas Rangers.

But hours away from the trade deadline, Ryan Dempster is still a Cub. Word is that Dempster is adamant about wanting to go to the Dodgers. Dempster is slated to start tonight against the Pirates. If he does start for the Cubbies tonite, i.e., he's not traded, there should be a good smothering of boos at The Friendly Confines!! Worse news for  all of us is that we may be stuck with Dempster doing his impression of Will Ferrell doing an impression of Harry Caray. Yeah, haven't seen enough of that!!

Idiot caller on the Score right now- Cubs are holding all the cards re Dempster! Dodgers have to give up alot for Dempster if they want him!!

Winning Streak Ends At 5

but another series win over Texas. Off to Minnesota before the White Sox finally return home.
Is Kenny Williams done trading? A utility infielder? Back-up catcher?

Five In A Row!!

5 wins in a row for the White Sox and five wins in a row over the Texas Rangers!
My in-depth analysis- "Nice!"

When Will Dane Cook Apologize for Not Being Funny!!

http://www.thehollywoodgossip.com/2012/07/dane-cook-apologizes-for-dark-knight-rises-joke-being-an-insensi/

http://coedmagazine.com/2009/01/09/the-top-10-most-unfunny-comedians-of-all-time/

Some of Dane Cook's "great" movies:
1. Good Luck Chuck - Not even Jessica Alba could save this movie!
2. Employee of the Month- there are 2 movies with this title. The Difference? The one with Dane Cook sucks. The one without Dane Cook is a damn good movie.
3. Waiting...- If you think spitting in food is comic gold, then you'll like this movie.

White Sox Win! Four In a Row!

In case you were wonderng, it's much better than losing 4 in a row!

1. Chris Sale battled without his best stuff.
2. Youk!! Another home run from Bobby Valentine's cast-off.

A series win against the Rangers would be very nice.

Very Sad- Neil Reed Dead at the Age of 36!

http://content.usatoday.com/communities/campusrivalry/post/2012/07/bob-knight-neil-reed-dead-choking/1#.UBIG4LQ9mAk\

Former IU hoops player who stated that Bobby Knight choked him during a practice, has died at the age of 36.
Had a wife and two daughters. Just sad.

RIP, Neil Reed!

Top 5 Cubs Moments of the Season, thus far (Sox fan Perspective)

1. Being swept by the White Sox at the Friendly Confides
2. Cards scoring 12 runs in the 7th inning!
3. Marmol Alert- Any Marmol Blown save.
4. Kerry Wood throwing his mitt into the stands!
5. Ryan Dempster throwing a hissy fit in the dugout in Atlanta.

What Are the Marlins Doing?

http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/07/24/quote-of-the-day-ken-rosenthal-slams-the-marlins/

And that Stops The Bleeding......

1. Nice to see some offense, especially the Paulie home run! It would have been nice to see some runs of the Minnesota bullpen but maybe they were just tired after scoring all those runs off of Liriano.
2. Gavin Floyd was good enough to win with the help of the double play.
3. Jesse Crain gave up his usual home run.
4. Time to make it 2 in a row and get the series tonight! Q on the mound!!

Four Game Losing Streak, White Sox Fall out of First!

Need to get the offense going again. Not good at all since the All-Star break!

Friday, July 20, 2012

3-1 Red Sox over White Sox

I would much rather lose 10-1 as the White Sox did on Wednesday than to lose a game on a walk-off homer. Cody Ross with his third 3-run HR in two days placed Jose Quintana into a strange stat category. Q has pitched 3 games of 8 shutout innings with a No-Decision!!
Can't complain about the starters in this series: Axelrod, Quintana and Humber (with the only win) did enough to win. The bullpen and the offense did not.
Bulldog on the mound tonight followed by Chris Sale tomorrow in Detroit. But it's the offense that will need to step it up big time. Time for PK and Dunn to get some big hits.
Big Series for White Sox fans! As Puddy would say: "Gotta support your team!" So: Get Ur Black On!

Fred Williard Update- Fired by PBS!

http://watching-tv.ew.com/2012/07/20/fred-willard-arrested-fired-pbs-market-warriors

Again, aside from the stupidity of going to a movie theater rather than staying at home and going with the internet, pay-per-view, DVDs or a Glamour magazine , like 90% of the male population, isn't this a "victim-less crime'?

Fred Willard Arrested

http://todayentertainment.today.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/07/19/12833082-fred-willard-arrested-for-alleged-lewd-act-at-adult-theater?lite

In all seriousness, I has no idea that Adult Movie Theaters still existed! Fred, what is wrong with staying in the privacy of your own home like everyone else! The Internet? Pay Per View? DVDs? Really, an Adult Movie Theater?

The Pedro Hernandez Debut Becomes Cody Ross Show

Cody Ross hit a pair of 3 run HRs , so this one was over quickly with Hernandez sent back to Charlotte after the game. Need a good outing from Quintana today and the offense to step up in order to get a split.

Wednesday, July 18, 2012

Hernandez makes debut for White Sox tonight!

Will be 10th starting pitcher used by White Sox this season.
1. Jake Peavy- Bulldog!
2. Chris Sale- Ace. All-Star.
3. Gavin Floyd- We have had "Good Gavin" and "Bad Gavin." Currently on the DL.
4. Phil Humber- Up and Down to say the least. Except for 1 inning, nice return from DL!
5. Jon Danks- Has underperformed before his stint on the DL. White Sox need a healthy Danks.
6. Quintana- Huge rookie surprise! 3rd best starter thus far.
7. Axelrod- Hard to quantify thus far. Looked good against Red Sox. Awful in short rest start vs. Blue Jays.
8. Eric Stults- started the 2nd game of a double-header. Later designated for assignment and claimed by Padres.
9. Zach Stewart- got the White Sox, Kevin Youkilis!!!!
10.Pedro Hernandez-  Lefty makes major league debut tonight.

Youk!!

http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/07/18/kevin-youkilis-is-hitting-319-with-18-rbis-in-18-games-for-the-white-sox/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

How good a pick-up has Youk been? How about 18 RBI's in 18 games?!

a little BBQ-ed out, but a nice time overall with Badger, PG, Doc and Bucky B!

White Sox- First Half Highlights!

Better than anything I could write:
http://www.chicagonow.com/white-sox-observer/2012/07/the-best-of-the-white-sox-1st-half/

Plus a great audio mix from WSCR:

http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2012/07/09/listen-chris-tannehill-white-sox-1st-half-recap/

And Now A Little Bit About Hoops

1. Jabari Parker- considered by most to be the top hoops recruit in the upcoming class, tweeted his top ten schools: UK, Stanford, Michigan State, Kansas, Florida, Duke, BYU, Georgetown, DePaul, UNC. He stated the schools were not listed in any particular order. What school is missing? The University of Illinois!!! Outrage- how could someone from Chicago not include the Illini!!! Worse, he include DePaul but not Illinois. Illini fans, someone does not have to automatically include the "State school" just because he lives in Illinois. You have to do more than just be the "state school"

2. Does the NBA Summer League mean anything? Probably very little at best, but in any case so far Duke's Miles Plumlee is not looking horrible.http://www.scacchoops.com/tt_NewsBreaker_External.asp?NB=7361&utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

3. So at least for now, Dwight Howard is not going to the Nets. Now what?

Getting Ready for the Return of "Breaking Bad"!

Tomorrow!

Dinner at Ditka's followed by a weekend in Kansas City of too much BBQ eating but the right amount of White Sox baseball as we celebrate the end of UIC Badger's bachelorhood!

4 Wins in a Row for the Chicago White Sox!!

AJ GIF!!!!

AJ Scoring GIF

Jake Peavy's thanks for #TakeJake

White Sox fans - you're awesome!
I can't even begin to express my appreciation for everything you did this week to try and get me on the American League roster for the All-Star Game. Like I said all along, even more than winning or losing the Final Man vote, I feel incredibly blessed to have the support of the front office, my coaches and teammates and, of course, you, the best fans in baseball. Though it didn't go in our favor, this vote and the amount of effort put into it - from the campaign taglines and videos to all the words of encouragement and excitement - reminded me of everything I love about baseball.
I'd like to congratulate Yu Darvish of the Rangers - he's a great pitcher, and I know he'll be a valuable addition to the AL staff. And I wish my All-Star teammates Paul Konerko, Adam Dunn and Chris Sale, along with the whole AL club, the best of luck in bringing us home-field advantage in the World Series - because I strongly believe that it's going to matter to our ballclub in the end. I can't wait to get back on the mound and do everything I can to help us capture the AL Central Division title and win another World Series championship for White Sox fans and the city of Chicago. Get ready for a whole lot of fun during the second half!
Thanks again, White Sox fans.
Sincerely -
Jake Peavy
