The Prez is In Town...

which means traffic will be a bitch this Memorial Day weekend (rumors are that he will be attending Game #1 of the Stanley Cup Finals on Saturday).
But before he flew home, he invited a certain team to his other home in D.C.!

JUSTICE IN THE WORLD?

Sources state that Fat Tub of Lard aka Umpire Joe West will be disciplined by MLB.

http://twitter.com/JeffPassan

Unless there is a leak, we won't know for sure because umpire discipline (I don't want to picture that), unlike Player/manger suspensions and fines are not made public.

If Ozzie gets suspended, hopefully it will be for Friday's game. He was handing the reins to Joey Cora for that game anyway, to attend his son's graduation.

Not Like Joakim Noah, But Still, Ozzie "Razzies" Cleveland

I thought at first it wasn't Ozzie, because all the words were spelled correctly.
But after the game, Ozzie stated that he in fact was the author- having signed the ball for a friend.
Joakim Noah would approve.
And Lebron, the weather is great in Chicago today!!!

F*CK Joe West-Part II

From the Tribune's Breaking Sports site:

Sox's Guillen faces discipline after blasting ump

By Mark Gonzales

CLEVELAND -- White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen faces likely discipline for blasting first base umpire Joe West after West ejected him and pitcher Mark Buehrle following balk calls in a 5-4 win at Cleveland.

"Because he's a (bleeping bleep), that's what he is,'' Guillen said of his ejection in the second inning Wednesday. Guillen was irritated that West prevented him from protecting his pitcher, who was tossed after his second balk in the third inning.

Guillen said that West told him "to get the (bleep) off the field." Guillen said he knew that managers, players and coaches cannot argue balk calls, but felt that West overstepped his authority.

"He thinks he's the (bleep) in the field," Guillen said. "People pay to watch (bleeping) players play, not to see umpires and managers. I don't see any people say, 'I'm going to see Ozzie Guillen manage or Joe West (bleeping) umpire.' "
"Joe's been that way for a lot of years ... Sometimes he thinks (bleeping) people pay to watch him (bleeping) umpire."

West, through a pool reporter, disputed Guillen's allegation that he was embarrassing Buehrle.

"He didn't say that to me," West said. "I don't know what he's talking about. Ozzie came out because Buehrle was making gestures on the mound that could have got him kicked out so he was protecting Buehrle, that's all he was doing. I don't have a problem with that."

K's Comments:

West: "I don't have a problem with that. " Then why did you toss him?! And why did you toss Buerhle an inning later!?

Mr. Selig, why is it okay for umpire to swear. West can tell Guillen to get the F off the field, but once a manager states a "bad word", he's gone!

And Mr. Fat Piece of Lard (aka Joe West) if you don't like slow games- especially the slow games played by the Yankees and the Red Sox, then why did you toss Buerhle- the fastest working pitcher in baseball!

Peace out!

Boby Jenks' Days as a Closer Behind him?!

Despite Joe West's and Bobby Jenks' best/worst efforts, the White Sox hold on to a 5-4 win over the Tribe.
I thought I would be posting about Joe West but Bobby has taken away some of that thunder.
Jenks' enters the 9th with a 5-1 lead.
And this is what follows:
double, walk, single, walk (run in 5-2), base hit (2 run in, 5-4); STILL NO OUTS, sacrifice bunt (1 out), intentional walk, strike-out (2 outs), flyout!!
Badger and I debated whether or not the Sox should have gotten rid of Jenks during the offseason. I said yes, while you could have still gotten something for him. Sadly, it looks like I was correct. Sox have other options at closer- Thornton, JJ Putz and even the rookie Santos (Bobby Jenks was not the Opening Day roster in 2005, so why not try Santos!?).
Yikes!!!
Back to Joe West. He has now tossed Ozzie three times. Watch the replay of him tossing Buerhle. Joe West should not be allowed to ump any Yankees, Red Sox, or White Sox games.

F*ck The Fat Piece of Lard Joe West

While umping at 1B (even when he's not behind the plate, it all about him!)
ejects Ozzie Guillen in the 2nd and then ejects Buerhle in the 3rd, forcing the Sox to tax their bullpen on the eve of series in Tampa!!

Somewhere Ryan Leaf is smiling.

CUBS GET SWEPT BY THE PIRATES, BUT THE SAVIOR IS HERE!!!

Cubs call up "Phenom" Starlin Castro (Cubs fans do not call him Starlin Castro, but actually refer to him by the name "Phenom Starlin Castro").
He will play shortstop and has been give number 13 (Ozzie Guillen's number- Cubbies throwing a little more fuel to the fire of the Cubs-Sox rivalry?!)
Cubs fans have been drooling over this guy since spring training. There were also drooling over Felix Pie and Corey Patterson (who I believe is not in the majors this season).
UPDATE: Starlin Castro hit a 3-run HR in his first at-bat!!!!!!

REPORTS: WHITE SOX HEAVILY INVOLVED IN TRADE TALKS

The White Sox are one of the most active teams in trade talks.
One rumor- Lance Berkman.

NO SURPRISE-RAIDERS CUT JAMARCUS RUSSELL

This guy's reputation was made almost entirely from his Sugar Bowl performance against Notre Dame. You would think that pro scouts would know better than to judge someone based on a performance against Notre Dame!!
Back-up to Cutler in Chicago!?

Calipari- Interested in the Bulls' Job- Or Maybe Not

I can't remember the last successful hiring of a college coach for NBA head coaching position.
Last time the Bulls tried this- Tim "Pink" Floyd.
So, I'm not crazy about the possibility of Calipari as Vinny's successor (would he have to take a pay cut with the Bulls!?). The chief arguments for hiring Calipari is that it would make D Rose happy and, apparently, LeBron likes him and ergo LeBron would join the Bulls as a free agent (very doubtful).
But at this point, we don't even know if Calipari is interested.

UPDATE: IT LOOKS LIKE CALIPARI IS GETTING A PAY RAISE AT UK:

JAKE PEAVY-FINALLY

After some real crap outings, Peavy finally has a, dare I say, "Peavy-like" performance:

7 Innings, 4 Hits, NO runs, 9 Ks and 1 BB.
(Unfortunately, Linebrink had to ruin the shutout!)
But still, I am so happy, I can sing:

UVa Lacrosse Player Charged with Murder of Female Lacrosse Player

I'm guessing this "little" story will not get nearly as much media coverage as the "Duke Lacrosse Rape Case."

From Chicago Breaking Sports News:
Tribune News Services

A University of Virginia men's lacrosse player was charged Monday with first-degree murder in the death of a women's lacrosse player at the school.

George Huguely, 22, of Chevy Chase, Md., was charged in the death of Yeardley Love, 22, of Cockeysville, Md., Charlottesville police said in a news release. Both were fourth-year students.

Police were called to an off-campus apartment around 2:15 a.m. Monday about a possible alcohol overdose. Officials have not determined the cause of death but say there were signs of physical trauma. Witnesses told police Huguely and Love were in a relationship.

Both highly ranked teams are preparing for the national tournament later this month.
Virginia's men's team was ranked No. 1 for most of the season and expects to host a first-round game in the tournament after winning the Atlantic Coast Conference championship last month. The women's team also was expected to get into the tournament.

Huguely, a midfielder, wasn't a starter but played in all 15 games this season. He had four goals and three assists. Love played defense and started in three games this season.

Virginia's athletics department said no coaches, administrators or players were available for comment.

Charlottesville police and prosecutors did not immediately return phone messages seeking comment.

Huguely is being held in the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail.
