Sox's Guillen faces discipline after blasting ump

By Mark Gonzales

CLEVELAND -- White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen faces likely discipline for blasting first base umpire Joe West after West ejected him and pitcher Mark Buehrle following balk calls in a 5-4 win at Cleveland.

"Because he's a (bleeping bleep), that's what he is,'' Guillen said of his ejection in the second inning Wednesday. Guillen was irritated that West prevented him from protecting his pitcher, who was tossed after his second balk in the third inning.

Guillen said that West told him "to get the (bleep) off the field." Guillen said he knew that managers, players and coaches cannot argue balk calls, but felt that West overstepped his authority.

"He thinks he's the (bleep) in the field," Guillen said. "People pay to watch (bleeping) players play, not to see umpires and managers. I don't see any people say, 'I'm going to see Ozzie Guillen manage or Joe West (bleeping) umpire.' "
"Joe's been that way for a lot of years ... Sometimes he thinks (bleeping) people pay to watch him (bleeping) umpire."

West, through a pool reporter, disputed Guillen's allegation that he was embarrassing Buehrle.

"He didn't say that to me," West said. "I don't know what he's talking about. Ozzie came out because Buehrle was making gestures on the mound that could have got him kicked out so he was protecting Buehrle, that's all he was doing. I don't have a problem with that."

K's Comments:

West: "I don't have a problem with that. " Then why did you toss him?! And why did you toss Buerhle an inning later!?

Mr. Selig, why is it okay for umpire to swear. West can tell Guillen to get the F off the field, but once a manager states a "bad word", he's gone!

And Mr. Fat Piece of Lard (aka Joe West) if you don't like slow games- especially the slow games played by the Yankees and the Red Sox, then why did you toss Buerhle- the fastest working pitcher in baseball!

Peace out!
