Now I know whose fault it was!!!

You got one part of your Super Bowl prediction right: Rex Grossman didn't compare favorably with Peyton Manning.

While the Bears defense wasn't its typical sterling self, they played fairly well and forced turnovers. Devin Hester continued his lights out play, and Thomas Jones and the O-line played respectably.

That said, the Bears couldn't "hide" Grossman the whole game and, after passing for a mere 55 yards over the first 3 quarters, Grossman fell apart badly to start the fourth quarter.

He singlehandedly cost them the title.

What's the word on the streets in Chicago? Will the Bears still field Train Rex as the starter next year?

It is split 50%-50% as follows: It was all Grossman's fault or It wasn't ALL Grossman's fault. Nothing official as to next year but most are saying yu have to stick with Grossman for next year, because what other choice do you have (Jeff Garcia as a free agent?)? Griese is not thye answer! I believe Grossman has one year left on his contract. If the Bears resign or put the franchise tag on Lance Briggs, resign Mike Brown and Tommie Harris comes back healthy Tank Johnson will be gone or on a very short lease as the Bears are high on DT Dustin Dvorek, who was on the IR this year) the defense could be great, better than this year. If Benson comes back healthy and Thomas Jones is not traded, the ONLY question will be Grossman!

Any word on how Virginia McCaskey's been spending her time recently? Has she been diligently clipping Walgreen's coupons like an impoverished senior citizen? She certainly hasn't been opening up the pocketbook to retain the Bears' coaches.

ESPN's John Clayton did his best to cover for the Bears' failure to retain the modestly-paid Rivera, suggesting that management is really enticed by the idea of your LB coach taking over for Rivera.

However, with the recent news from Lovie Smith's camp, a pattern seems to be developing: you've got a cheap owner.

You were one player away from winning the Super Bowl this past year.

I suspect that you're hoping that McCaskey's pound-foolish ways won't cost you over the coming two years.

Thoughts?
