Crede a Twin!

The Chicago Tribune is reporting that Joe Crede has signed with the (yuck!) Minnesota Twins.

This virtually guarantees that he will suck all year. Tony Bautista anyone? Juan Castro? Sidney Ponson? Rondell White?

When the Twins sign a veteran to a contract in excess of $1MM, it means that every decent team where the guy wants to play has looked at him and said, "Good lord, the guy has nothing left!!" So his agent is forced to go to the Twins and get $3MM plus a bunch of incentives. The guy sucks and the Twins never pay out on the incentives.

But it allows the Twins to say to their fans "well, we didn't sit around and do NOTHING!"

Well, of course I hope you are correct (the only other team bidding for Crede was the Giants). But keep in mind another Scott Boras client coming off of injuries, Magglio Ordonez, who signed a contract similar to the one that Crede signed. Magglio has been pretty good in Detroit. Will Crede's back hold up on Minnesota's turf?

We're witness to an historic convergence of mullets with Crede now joining Jared Allen in the Twin Cities.
