Hall of Fame Weekend: Richard Dent

On Saturday, Richard Dent, Super Bowl XX MVP, will make it three members of the 1985 Chicago Bears defense in the Hall of Fame (Dan Hampton, Mike Singletary and Dent). A well deserved honor for Dent and further evidence of the greatest NFL defense ever.

Congrats!

I think you are overlooking the Vikings early 70's defense: Page (LEAGUE MVP (only D-Lineman ever to win it); Eller and Krause all in the Hall-- and Jim Marshall should be. Just sayin'.

Excellent Defensive line (but the Steel Curtain was better) Purple People Eaters didn't win any Super Bowls. The 1985 Bears Defense (the "46" Defense) best ever.

4 SuperBowl appearances to 1. I don't think you can say that...

Just to be clear, I was talking about one season only re the 85 Bears. For one season, I would match it up agaisnt any other defense. But that team only won the one Super Bowl and starting losing some key players- Wilbur Marshall, Dave Duerson -fairly quickly! As to a number of years, I would place the Steel Curtain defense over the Purple Eaters. That defense won 4 Super Bowls. Vikings? I know that the Steelers had a better offense, but the Vikings did have HOF Fran Tarkenton, right? For the record- both Jim Marshall (Vikes) and LC Greenwood (Steelers) belong in the HOF.
